The Band & Programme Director of OneHeartBeat Percussions since its formation, Mr Syed Ibrahim is a well-rounded teaching artist with more than 35 years in percussion music & education.

After serving 8 years as the Head of Performing Arts Department at St Anthony's Canossian Secondary School, he had since established OneHeartBeat Percussions company, earned a Specialist Diploma in Psychology and completed trainings in the VMC’s Arthur Hull art of facilitating community drum circle and REMO HealthRHYTHM.

As a Village Music Circles Certified Facilitator, REMO Artist Endorsee and Swee Lee Music (distributors of REMO Drums) he is given the support to continue promoting a movement and approach that Singapore had never seen, till he brought them back to our shores - the community drum circles in 2006. He believes drumming is innate, accessible and provides an opportunity for people to be giving and supporting of each other.

Aside from actively performing, Syed designs programmes for school children between 7-16 years old, working with a team of dedicated facilitators that he had handpicked and mentored over the years, and facilitates various styles of rhythm activities for families in community settings and corporations.
He also introduced drumming to senior facilities, who had till then, never experienced such inclusive, engaging and empowering music activity.

He is a strong believer that the community drum circle is one of the best ways to introduce anyone to the wonders and joy of music making. Creating circumstances in which we channel their motivation towards achievable goals. Syed is a proud recipient of the Citation of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contribution to percussion education by the Percussive Arts Society
