Village Music Circles™ (VMC) is committed to safe, inclusive, and professionally grounded training environments. Our standards support instructional excellence, ethical practice, and accountability across all programs.
Code of Conduct
All participants, facilitators, trainers, staff, and partners agree to:
Respect & Inclusion
- Treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
- Foster welcoming, participatory spaces across cultures and identities.
Professional Integrity
- Represent VMC training and credentials accurately.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Communicate ethically and responsibly.
Safety & Well-Being
- Prioritize emotional and physical safety.
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or retaliation.
Violations may result in corrective action, including suspension or termination of affiliation.
Instructor Qualifications
VMC instructors are selected based on:
- Advanced VMC training and demonstrated facilitation skill
- Documented experience leading participatory music programs
- Strong communication and inclusive leadership
- Relevant professional or educational background
Instructors participate in ongoing evaluation through feedback, peer review, and continuing professional development.
Grievance Process
VMC maintains a fair and transparent process for addressing concerns related to conduct, safety, or program delivery.
When appropriate, informal resolution is encouraged. If needed, a written grievance may be submitted within 90 days of an incident. VMC leadership will acknowledge receipt within 7 business days and conduct a timely review. A written determination will be provided.
Retaliation is strictly prohibited. Reasonable efforts will be made to maintain confidentiality.
Participants receiving graduate-level professional development credit or continuing education may also pursue remedies through University of Massachusetts Global or CBMT when applicable.
