VMC Facilitators Master Class with

Join Arthur Hull and Jim Boneau in their latest offering for trained and experienced Drum Circle Facilitators, the VMC Facilitator Master Class. Imagine sharing jump time with seasoned drum circle facilitators who are looking to push the facilitation edges and explore new possibilities for reaching musicality. Imagine getting a backstage pass into the planning and program adjustment conversations that master facilitators have in the middle of a program. Imagine receiving feedback from experienced and professional facilitators as you jump into the middle of a highly skilled circle. All of that and more is on the agenda for the VMC Facilitator Master Class.

In this 2 full-day experiential deep dive, Jim and Arthur offer insights, feedback, and examples to propel your facilitation to the next level. DCFs usually must practice new skills in front of a paying audience, or in front of newer drummers who have just joined a drum circle. While we receive feedback from our participants in the form of their participation, we don’t get an opportunity to explore the feedback in real-time, adjust, and try again. The VMC Facilitator Master Class will offer that experience. We’ll run structured Jump Time sessions to allow you to experiment with a willing and skilled set of drummers and facilitators. We will take the time after your Jump Time for feedback, open discussion, and additional practices. Sometimes Jump Times will be tasked with specific challenges and audience types.

The master class will also include chances for you to observe Jim and Arthur as they assess, adapt, and implement real-time changes to curriculum. Most curriculum is only 85% complete until it’s facilitated. It’s at the time of actual facilitation where the facilitator can learn the most about the group, adapt to the group needs, and do something different. Jim and Arthur will demonstrate in real-time how a master facilitator’s mind solves problems and adapts. You’ll get a backstage pass to every decision made throughout the workshop. The workshop includes exclusive Master Class curriculum and exercises not offered in any other VMC Playshop.

Arthur and Jim have taught DCF Skills around the world for over 20 years. They have facilitated countless drum circles from schools to the workplace. They will tap into all these experiences to provide a challenging and interactive VMC Facilitator Master Class, enabling experienced facilitators to expand their facilitation and deepen the musical experience of their circles.

This workshop is designed for drum circle facilitators who have attended some formal DCF training and have significant field experience leading drum circles.

Learning Objectives

• Practice and receive real time feedback through extensive Jump Time
• Understand the facilitator’s mindset, attitude, and actions needed to make real-time curriculum changes
• Learn how to meet an experienced and skilled group and help them reach excellence in an improvisational rhythm ensemble.

The program is two full days, Monday March 3rd and Tuesday March 4th, 2025.  So make travel plans for Wednesday or later.

• Training is from 9AM to 9PM each day
• Price for the Event. $300
• Participants are responsible for food and lodging.
• Total cost $226 for lunch and dinner for both days - NO breakfast.
