Virtual Hawaii Celebration

This is a momentous year for Village Music Circles. 25 years ago, on the grounds of Camp Mokuleia on the North Shore of the Island of Oahu, Arthur kicked off his first 6 Day Facilitator Playshop in Hawaii. For the past 25 years 1,440 students from 22 countries around the world have traveled to the North Shore to learn drum circle facilitation and create one of a kind rhythmical late night grooves while sitting on a volcano in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. If you listen closely, you can hear the ocean waves and breeze through the trees adding their patterns to the groove.

Arthur and Jim had planned to offer one last annual Hawaii Facilitator’s Playshop and Mentor program this year. And, like so much of 2020, things are not turning out as we had planned. We will not be gathering at Camp Mokuleia this year in person, so Arthur and Jim want to invite you to a virtual Zoom celebration and community gathering to mark the occasion of 25 years of Village Music Circle Playshops in Hawaii.

On Tuesday August 11th at 4PM United States Pacific Coast time, Arthur Hull and Jim Boneau will host a Hawaii Reunion/Celebration. We are inviting all past participants of the Hawaii Playshops, and our worldwide drum circle community to log on for connection, remembering, and celebrating. Our intention will be to honor the past and nurture all our hopes for the future when we can gather together in person to learn and play.

In preparing for the celebration we invite all Hawaii Playshop participants to send us one photo from your Hawaii experience. Please send those photos to photos@drumcircle.com as soon as possible and include the year the picture was taken. We will share as many as we can during the Zoom session and all photos will be available on a special page on the VMC website. In addition, you’ll have opportunity to connect in small groups, share a virtual groove, and of course hear from Arthur and Jim.
