I am a drummer, drum teacher and drum circle facilitator active around Hiroshima, Japan.
I have been a drummer and drum teacher for a long time, seeking ways of artistic expression through drumming. I visited Mali and Senegal, in West Africa, and played djembe, doundoun, and other kinds of the drums with African people.
I first encountered a drum circle after I came back to Japan from Africa, and I was excited by this new and artistic way of making music. I love the children, adults and elderly people who join the events and play the drums, and I love the creative process and the pure music these participants make.
I want to make artistic music while building a community through rhythm.
